Local owners and operators Tim Shidler and Michael Weber opened Zander's Ice Cream & Coffee on December 10, 2005 after almost two years of extensive research; seminars; recipe experiments; taste testing and classes.  A small, bold but quaint shop soon became known for Panini sandwiches and pasta salads, specialty drinks and personal one on one service.  Soon realizing they had outgrown the store plans to expand became a reality.  On November 16, 2007 the store was moved to 315 Main Street in historic downtown Vincennes, Indiana.  The new location of almost 9,000 square feet has a unique atmosphere like no other in the Vincennes area that many customers have compared to with cafes in larger cities such as Chicago, San Diego, Detroit and Washington D.C.  

With the inspiration of Tim's nephew Zachary the outdoors was created inside with a plant covered patio, an elevated patio, old fashioned street lamps trees, planters, Tuscan village store fronts, sidewalks with bistro tables, a front porch area for conversation and a glider to relax on.  Tables are tucked in secluded areas with plants dividing them which creates privacy that so many appreciate.  Off to one side you will find a quiet area complete with livingroom.  This area has an inspirational wall with many positive sayings, quotes and short poems to remind everyone to stay positive in life.   We encourage anyone to bring in their favorite, sign it and we will display it.  This quiet area has a large screen TV, DVD player.  Off to one side of this area are quiet private study rooms.

Free wireless internet access is available throughout the store.  Beyond the living room is a large banquet/party facility used for receptions, rehearsal dinners, banquets, parties and dances.  We have been able to host college dances, fund raisers, live entertainment, craft shows, business fairs and talent shows within the area.

Our menu stands alone in the Vincennes area. We incorporated items that are unique and would satisfy taste buds for each part of the day.Delicious breakfast panini sandwiches, tortilla grillers, and egg and cheese croissants top off the breakfast menu as well as panini toast, muffins, cookie dough pie,  cinnamon rolls and bagels.

We offer our own recipes of Italian panini sandwiches, grillers, chicken salad, ham salad and pasta salads using family recipes all made from scratch.  We also offer deli style sandwiches and a fresh salad bar.  Most menu items are served until 10 PM.

The coffee and espresso drinks are delicious. By using the most flavorful freshly roasted beans we are able to provide the most flavorful drinks in the area.  We have been told by our customers that the aroma and taste exceeds that of most popular coffee house chains across America.  We of course offer most drinks hot or over ice to satisfy everyone's taste.  We offer Lattes Cappuccinos, Mochas, and Americanos all made to order with prices well below the popular chain coffee shops.

Our Ice Cream is superb. We make the Ice Cream right in our store so it is always fresh. We offer free samples we call "taste drives" so you can taste before you enjoy.  We feel we have taken ice cream to a whole new level by the great taste and creamy texture, and we are never shy with the goodies such as nuts, candies, cookies and variegates added to the tasty treats.  Customers say our ice cream tastes better than the popular large chain stores.  Some of our creative 150 rotating flavors include: gravel road, wedding cake, granny's banana nut bread, white fudge turtle, birthday surprise, sticky bun grandma's kitchen and banana cream pie.  Seasonal favorites include walnut pumpkin pie, haunted mansion, winter storm, clowning around (for Vincennes being the home of Red Skelton) thunderstorm and candy cane.  

We prepare our hot fudge and whipped cream from scratch and offer Ghirardelli chocolate and caramel sauces to top off the treats.  We offer moosh-ins as well.  What is a moosh-in?  The customer selects their choice of ice cream and goodies such as cookies, candies and cereals then we mix, mash, squish and squash the treats into the ice cream right before their eyes. 

Overall, our customers compliment Zander's with the warmth they feel when they enter the store.  The creative relaxing comfortable atmosphere, the services offered combined with the personal one on one service makes everyone feel right at home.  We compliment each and every employee that has helped us create what Zander's is today.
